THE AMETHYST

When I was younger, I didn’t feel pretty. I had a soft, round tummy that I delighted in when I was little, then despised by the time I reached double digits. My hair was albino white and my skin was equally as white—and that was just the cold months. In the summer, my hair turned even whiter and my skin developed into a whitish, rosy sand colour, which only made my thick white eyebrows look even more like Santa. I had braces for three years and a perm for two. All of that changed with an amethyst.
